Unnamed Tree ∞/∞
1999 - 2024
Unnamed Tree ∞/∞ is an ongoing generative art project that began in Edinburgh in 1997 and was premiered in a performance at the Heusteigtheater Stuttgart in 2004. It illustrates biological and sociological growth processes in an artistic and aesthetic way.
Becoming, passing, and re-emergence are intrinsically and simultaneously explored as a subject leading to a never-ending new perception of the space which was used.
The idea of the Unnamed Trees was inspired by the term "Rhizome" by Deleuze/ Guattari (1977) and Howard Hull's treatise "An unnamed tree" (1981).
By now, the concept of Unnamed Trees has been realized in many physical and digital formats.
